Old Wives Concert Poster
For the midterm in Raster/Vector course, an assignment was given to create a concert poster for a musical band, Old Wives. The goal for this project was to stimulate our creativity within a set of constraints.
My Thought Processes
The concept was to use vector art to create a simplified version of a woman’s portrait in profile and use it for the primary visual on the poster. From left to right, these illustrations represented the initial rendering, the iteration, and the final version. While the initial rendering presents the overall illustration cleanly, the title text could be misread, as they were different colors and aligned right. In the recomposition, the title texts were made the same size and positioned on top while the illustration was overlaid. The supporting text was all also enlarged for readability. However, there was visual chaos because the scattering and outlining of the puzzle pieces were overdone. In the final version, the scattering and outlining were dialed back while adding shadows to the scattered pieces to reinforce the visual depth of the composition.
